About Us

The sole principal of Whitfield & Co. is Peter Whitfield, a qualified solicitor since 1992.

Peter started working locally in 2002 to be closer to his then very young children. Before that he had been a partner in a five-office south London firm, having trained with a central London firm of solicitors. Peter has experience of a broad range of cases, from substantial financial cases on divorce to workplace discrimination.

Peter is a:

• Resolution Accredited Specialist. Resolution, previously the Solicitors’ Family Law Association, is the largest professional organisation for specialist family lawyers. Peter’s areas of particular expertise are Complex Financial and Property Matters and Cohabitation. For more information please see Resolution’s website www.resolution.org.uk.
• Consultant to the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (University of London) regarding family and other areas of law.

Peter has previously been a member of the West Kent Domestic Abuse Forum, a voluntary advisor at the Citizen’s Advice Bureau and a member of the regional appeals committee for legal aid appeals. He is currently a governor at the local primary school which both of his children attend.

All family work at Whitfield and Co. is carried out under Resolution’s Code of Practice in a fair and constructive way. We aim to carry out all the work that we do clearly and reasonably, taking firm action where this is needed.
