Our Fees

imageOur fees are intended to be fair and reasonable. We will always give you an estimate of the fees that are likely to be involved and we will tell you how we can work for you within the budget that you have. You can set a limit on the amount that you wish to spend and we will stay within that limit. We can sometimes offer to carry out work for you on the basis of an agreed fixed fee.

Like most solicitors we usually charge on an hourly basis. Our hourly rate is £160 plus VAT (£188). You will probably find that this is significantly less than other firms would charge for an equally experienced solicitor. As a small firm with modest overheads we are able to offer a more reasonable hourly rate.

We offer a fixed fee initial interview for £50 plus VAT (£58.75). The interview lasts for about 30 minutes (we don’t use a stopwatch) and is intended to give you an opportunity to tell us about your situation and for us to give you some advice about the options that are available to you. At this stage we do not confirm advice in writing and it is up to you whether you wish us to carry out any further work. There is no obligation and we are happy to give you initial advice and then give you time to think and decide how you would like to proceed.

We can advise on eligibility for Legal Aid and we will always consider whether you might be eligible. Although we do not offer Legal Aid, we can sometimes offer a discounted hourly rate to clients who might qualify for Legal Aid but decide to instruct us to act for them. It can be difficult to find solicitors who offer Legal Aid and you may not be able to instruct the solicitor that you would like under the Legal Aid scheme.
